Stacey T. Gin, O.D., FAAO.
Dr. Stacey Gin received her degree in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. She received her doctor of optometry degree at the Southern California College of Optometry where she graduated with honors. After completion of her O.D., Dr. Gin pursued a residency in Primary Eye Care at the Veterans Administration in San Diego. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Gin has been recognized by Vision Monday as one of "The 50 Most Influential Women in Optical." She has also served as her Class President at SCCO. Dr. Gin is very passionate about her profession and serves on the board of directors for the San Gabriel Valley Optometric Society, the Asian American Optometric Society, Glendale Kiwanis and Glendale Healthy Kids. When she is not working, she enjoys fishing, golfing and dancing.
Duane deCroupet, O.D.
Dr. deCroupet is the founder of Glendale Optometric Center and has been serving the Glendale community for over 30 years. Dr. deCroupet joined Drs. William Leslie and John Link in private practice in 1970 and now serves as an inspirational mentor to Dr. Gin. He received his Diplomat from the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and also his Fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. deCroupet has always been a strong leader in his profession and has served as the past Chairman of the Board for Southern California College of Optometry, board member for Vision West, President for the San Fernando Valley Optometric Society and has received many distinguished awards for his excellence in optometry. Dr. deCroupet devotes much of his time to serving his community and has been the past President and an active member of the Glendale Kiwanis Club for many years. Dr. deCroupet has a beautiful wife Terry, two lovely daughters and two grandchildren. In his free time, he roots for the USC Trojans, plays golf and spends time with close friends and family.
Carl S. Shibata, M.D.
Dr. Shibata has practiced in Glendale since 1980. He specializes in Eye Plastic Surgery and completed his residency in Ophthalmology, which was then followed by his Fellowship at the prestigious Jules Stein Eye Institute at the UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Shibata is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has specialty certification by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Shibata is actively involved in teaching Ophthalmology residents and directs ophthalmic plastic surgery at the Jerry Pettis Loma Linda Veterans Hospital. Dr. Shibata was born and raised in the Coachella Valley and enjoys golf, tennis and reading as time permits. Dr. Shibata has a beautiful wife, 4 grown children and 1 grandchild.
Diana M. Ciobanu, O.D.
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Diana Ciobanu to Glendale Optometric Center. Dr. Ciobanu started with us in July and is a wonderful asset to our office. She was born and raised in Suceava, Romania and moved to New York City as a teenager. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Connecticut and graduated pre-med with a bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences. At Uconn she served as an ambassador to the school and her humanitarian and classroom work yielded academic achievement awards and bid her membership in the Phi Sigma Pi, National Honors Fraternity. Dr. Ciobanu continued her education at the New England College of Optometry where she received her doctorate of Optometry. She is certified in diagnostic and therapeutic medical privileges both in California and New York. She is a member of the Lions Club, the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association. In her free time she enjoys traveling the world.
Jeffrey T. Nishi, O.D.
Dr. Jeffrey Nishi is the newest member to Glendale Optometric Center. He was born and raised in the South Bay in Manhattan Beach, Ca. Dr. Nishi received his bachelor's degree in Integrative Biology from the University of California at Berkeley and received his doctor of optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry. Dr. Nishi is certified in therapeutic pharmaceutical agents, lacrimal irrigation and dilation, as well as certified to treat and manage glaucoma. Dr. Nishi was an active leader during optometry school serving as class president for 3 years, as a student member of the curriculum committee, as well as 3rd and 4th year student liaison for the Asian American Optometric Association. He is very excited to be joining the team here at Glendale Optometric Center and looks forward to becoming an active member of the Glendale community. In his spare time he enjoys cooking, playing video games, golfing, going to the beach, and spending time with family and friends.
